“I Am Vengeance!”

Chelsea would unfortunately lose her Main Event match to Issak Otto but the Chicago native had other things on her mind as she headed into her third Main Event in a row which would prove to be a bigger challenge as she was teaming up with Jason Long in a Champions and Challengers Triple Threat Tag Team Match, her opposition? Allen Cheyney and Issak and Angel and Lachlan Kaine! Can Chelsea get the win?

Friday the 11th of November 2022, 17:00pm

I’ve gotta be doing something right!

Anyone who’s followed my career since I burst onto the mainstream last August knows that my entrance into mainstream wrestling wasn’t exactly a smooth one! I knew I had to be doing something right for the PWE higher ups to take notice of a twenty-two-year-old metal chick who happened to be a former Olympic Hopeful turned rookie wrestler, hell at the time the fact that I was a Go Gym Graduate wasn’t widely known as I didn’t get a Twitter account until after I signed with PWE.

Then again, it’s not like I publicly advertise the fact that I’m a Go Gym Graduate these days either! But here I am one year later, just under a month away from my twenty fourth birthday having made a name for myself as one of the best young talents in the country and main eventing three PWE shows in a row! Throw in the fact that I’m already in demand as a dream opponent for much older wrestlers than me?

Well, not bad for a girl who was considering suicide just a few months before she entered the Go Gym, right?

Speaking of Main Events, my next one will be a challenge for sure, it’s a mix of people I’ve wrestled before and those who I’ve yet to face and that it’s a Triple Threat Tag Team Match? Yeah, this is going to be a clusterfuck! Still, I don’t think anything could get my mood down, especially with the company I’m keeping.

“Auntie Chelsea, when are we going out?” Nattie’s voice broke my train of thought and I glanced over at my eight-year-old niece, the Autistic girl was promised a trip to Orlando the next time I went out there for, well, any company really, it just so happened that PWE was the one who booked me for an Orlando event next! Still, I glanced over my adorable niece and grinned warmly at her.

”Soon Nattie, auntie Chelsea is just checking stuff on Twitter.” I assured her with a ruffle of her hair and Nattie grinned in response, Sarah was out trying to find a local restaurant at the last minute leaving me with the little tyke for the moment. ”Are you sure you don’t want to watch cartoons in the meantime?”

“The characters are so dumb in those shows!” Nattie responded as she shook her head and I had to chuckle, she was only eight but my niece was already developing a critical eye for things, maybe she’ll be a film critic one day, who knows? “Aside from the Batman Animated Series!”

”Don’t worry I’ll start you on Superman and Justice League soon.” I assured her but I knew in my head that those shows were pushing it, Liz was concerned about Nattie and Jason seeing violent content at their ages and hell, I was pushing it when I showed her Batman: The Animated Series. ”Okay, just going to send a message to my big bull friend and we’ll be………”

I never finished that sentence as I saw a tweet that made my heart skip a beat, Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman from the Animated Series and Arkham Games had passed away and I was left in a state of shock. “Is something wrong Auntie?” Nattie asked breaking me from my stupor.

”No, nothing’s wrong kiddo! How about you wait outside? I’ve got a phone call to make.” I responded and Nattie nodded before she left my hotel room, once that was done I grabbed my phone and called Liz over facetime. ”Hey Liz, I’ve got a bit of a dilemma.”

“What kind of dilemma?” Liz asked once she got my message and I let out a deep breath. “Is everything okay with Natalie? I know she’s your niece Chels, but I’m her mother! I have a right to know if anything’s happened to her.”

”Nattie’s fine and trust me, if anything had happened to her, I’d be calling 911 in a panic and not you.” I assured Liz and my older sister breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that. ”You remember the Batman Animated series? The one that turned Mr. Freeze from a joke villain to one of Batman’s most tragic figures in his rogues gallery?”

“Off course! That’s one of my favourite cartoons off all time.” Liz nodded to confirm that she knew what I was talking about and I sighed. “Why?”

”I just found out via Twitter that Kevin Conroy died.” I explained and Liz lowered her head as it hit her. ”And I think Nattie caught on that something had made me sad.”

“Ahh, that explains it.” Liz nodded as she got the idea and I let out a deep breath. “Nattie’s a smart girl in spite of her learning difficulties, she’ll be empathetic with you on that front Chels.”

”I know that and I wouldn’t be calling you if that was the only issue.” I responded as I shook my head and Liz waited for my follow up with bated breath. ”Have you told her about death yet? I know she had just turned six when Justin died.”

“That’s a complicated issue for people on the autism spectrum Chelsea, especially when they are as young as Nattie.” Liz sighed as she got the idea and I nodded. “I haven’t told her or Jason about Justin yet, my plan is to tell them when they are in their early teens at the earliest, and as far as I know? She doesn’t know a thing about the concept of death yet, it’s weird because as a doctor I sometimes have to deal with patients who are on their way out but I’m not comfortable telling my son or daughter about it yet.”

”And I’m not exactly comfortable talking about it with her either and I’m her aunt!” I pointed out as I ran a hand through my hair. ”Maybe we should talk more about this when we get back from Florida? I should have a clearer head by then.”

“Sounds good, I’ll see you then.” Liz responded before she went to hang up. “Oh by the way, you were asking if it possible to break a knee if you fell over after failing to kick a guy in the nuts, right?”

”It was knee a guy in the nuts but yeah.” I responded referring to a beef I had with another Zion wrestler called Elijah Copeland. ”Not exactly a sentence sisters have every day right?”

“Normally? No, but when one sister’s a professional wrestler, a death metal musician and a porn star and the others a doctor? It can happen.” Liz responded with a slight laugh before shaking her head. “I just want to stress that this isn’t my area of expertise, I’m a cancer specialist remember? But going by what I remember from medical school? There are two likely outcomes based on how you land, either you break your knee or you tear the ligaments in your knee, either way, results will be painful and you’d be out for months!”

”All because a promotion thought that sticking two enemies in a tag team match sounded fun, what a world huh?” I joked dryly and Liz nodded with a chuckle. ”Well, I’d better go check on Nattie, see you when I get back.”

“See you.” Liz responded before she hung up and I left the room with my phone in hand.

Saturday the 12th of November 2022, 1:00am

Going to have to do this promo from my hotel room’s bathroom, yep.

”Look, I don’t know what the acoustics are like in this bathroom, but the alternative is waking up my eight-year-old niece who I brought on the trip with me and I’m not about to deal with a cranky eight-year-old girl!” I admitted into my iPhone’s camera as I made myself comfy. ”Let’s get the obvious out of the way first, Issak got the better of me at the last Victory but this weekend I’m finding myself in yet another Main Event where I’m teaming with Jason Long to take on Allen Cheyney and Issak alongside Angel and Lachlan Kaine! If you’re wondering how the rookie who couldn’t get a win to save her life for the first few months of her PWE Career keeps getting put in Main Events, join the fucking club!”

But I digress!

”And off course, I can’t really talk about this match without bringing up the fact that this is a champions and challengers match, Allen is the Excellence Champion and Angel is the Impulse Champion, whilst me, Issak, Lachlan and Jason are their potential challengers! I’ve been chasing after my third ever championship reign for most of the year so if I can get the win over either Angel or Lachlan then my chances at getting a shot at either of those guys go up faster than Taurus’s………maybe I shouldn’t finish that sentence on the off chance that Nattie hears me.” I admitted sheepishly as I shook my head. ”There’s two problems with that idea off course, Alen and Angel are champions for a reason and I think it's safe to say that my fellow challengers in this match want the same thing!”

Let’s start talking about my opposition, shall we?

”I’m going to kick things off with Angel and for one very good reason, the last time me and Angel met in a PWE ring, I won! Yet that’s yet to parlay into me getting a title shot against that overrated b………mean person because the bosses are protecting her or something! Well, that won’t save her for long and I’m not just saying that because I’m teaming with a guy called Jason Long!” I commented as I shook my head. ”Angel, I’ve already proven that I’m a better Angel than you and a better wrestler, it’s only because the higher ups like you that you’ve yet to face me for the Impulse Championship but trust me sister, that title reign of yours is on borrowed time!”

Next up is Allen.

”The Comedian Allen Cheyney, the real joke here is that people think you’re funny when all your jokes go over like a fart in church!” I scoffed as I rolled my eyes. ”I’m sure your retort will be something like “this coming from the person whose idea of humour is roasting out of context comics panels?” yeah, because that stuff’s actually funny whilst your idea of humour is a freaking hot dog toilet! I say as I’m cutting this promo from my hotel room’s bathroom because I don’t want to wake up my niece, go ahead and point out the hypocrisy in that, I’ll wait, at least until I’m kicking your butt in this main event!”

As for the other challengers?

”It goes without saying that I’m not the only challenger in this match, Jason, Lachlan and Issak are all in the same boat as me! They want a shot at either Angel or Allen and they view this tag team match as a way to get that potential title shot! Well, I’m going to have to disappoint you boys because if anyone’s getting that title shot, it’s me!” I said as I pointed to myself. ”Because it’s about time that the Nightmare Angel ascended to the top of the PWE Mountain and people forget about that fucking match against that furball who is wasting a god damn roster slot! Yes I’m still mad about that bullshit Ollie match, some idiots think that that’s going to define my career! Those same idiots can go fuck themselves by the way and so can anyone else in this match who thinks that they are getting the shot at either Angel or Allen instead of me!”

Just as I was about to go into the wrap up there was a knock at the bathroom door and I answered it seeing my niece at the door. “Auntie Chelsea, I need the bathroom.” Nattie said sheepishly and rather than make her wait any longer I stepped aside to let the autistic girl into the bathroom.

”My eight-year-old niece just heard me use profanity, great, my older sister is going to chew my ass out for that one!” I grumbled as I left the bathroom and Nattie closed the door behind her. ”Before I jump into the wrap up though, I do have one other thing to say, the legendary voice of Batman Kevin Conroy passed away last night and anyone who saw my Twitter feed knows how big a fan I am of the Animated Series from the 90s, is it corny to dedicate my wrap up to the best Batman ever? Maybe, but fuck you, I’m doing it anyway!”

It's that simple.

”My fellow challengers seem to be a superstitious and cowardly lot! How else do you explain someone like Angel holding onto the Impulse Championship for this long?” I asked with a cocky grin on my face. ”I’ve already dispelled the myth of Angel being unbeatable once when I kicked her ass the other week and this week I’m going to continue that trend when I get the win for my team! Allen? He can keep telling bad jokes for all I care, sooner or later people will realize that the real joke about Allen Cheyney is his wrestling!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

”I’m going to end this promo with one of the most famous lines from Batman: The Animated Series, well, a paraphrased version of that line at least!” I said before clearing my throat to do my best Batman impression. ”I am Vengeance, I am “The Nightmare Angel” Chelsea Skye, I am the next PWE Impulse or Excellence Champion and either Angel, Aleen, Lachlan or Issak will soon learn that the Skyes the Limit! Jason? Just don’t fuck things up for our team and we won’t have a problem!”

I heard the toilet flush and I turned off the camera as the scene fades.
