.:.So What Did We Learn?.:. .:.Still Mid-May.:.
The infirmary was buzzing with the incident that took place in the mess hall just 24 hours previous.
Focus particularly on one room by everyone where V was counting the teeth left in his head after Angel made him an imprint on his face in a metal tray. No one touched her following the incident because she calmly sat down next to Muri afterwards and enjoyed a nice meal with the young girl.
“I don’t even feel sorry for him.” Muri simply said finally eating her mashed potatoes even though they were stone cold by then. The Good Doc called for his aides and had V picked up off the floor and taken down just incase before he rejoined them.
Either way, Muri’s big brother V had indeed put his foot in his mouth and learned Angel’s Lesson #3:
Never turn your back on her. EVER.
Now he sat in the hospital bed with an ice pack strapped to his face and no pity from anyone. X-Rays were negative, no sign of concussion and he was told in no uncertain terms to suck it up.
“You’d think all the swagger and the asskickings he’s dished out that one little shot with a tray wouldn’t have made it crumble like he was made of glass.” the doc said to Muri who was sitting in the room, “You’re fine to go back to your room V.”
“I’m good, thanks.” is what came out in a mumble form when he pressed the ice pack a little tighter.
Muri laughs, “He’s hiding from Angel.” that comes out almost in sing-song fashion
“I Am not!” V says glaring at his little sister.
Muri curls up and sets up on her feet and sticks her tongue out before yelling back, “You Are too! She knocked you on your butt, just like she claimed she would.”
V sticks his tongue back out at her before saying, “She cheap shotted me!”
“You’re the one that not only egged her on but then you turned your back on her,” the doc said with a knowing look in his eye just as a knock comes to the door, “It’s open.”
The door cracks open and Angel pops her head in, “Is he alive?”
“NO! PART OF ME DIED BACK THERE!” V barked out, looking rather pitiful with his head wrapped up and him holding the pack steady.
“He’s just being dramatic,” Muri said, rolling her pretty hazel eyes, “Come on in.”
“Ah, I’m good. Just wanted to make sure he lived to kick his ass another day, again.” she winked at the little girl before turning her attention to V, “When you pull your balls out of your ass, find me if you can.”
And just like that she’s gone, and the three look at each other, before the Doc simply says, “Why did that feel like a challenge?”
.:.We Can’t Avoid It Forever.:. .:.Early June.:.
It had been two weeks since and Angel finally found herself strong enough to train in the facility, even if it was by herself the majority of the time. She preferred the solitude honestly but every once in a while Muri would join her but tonight she was grateful for the silence...until...
“Hello, Angel.”
She stopped dead in her tracks, a cold chill creeping up her spine at the voice. She turned slowly to see V behind her leaning against the doorframe. But rather than the scowl she was expecting from him, he wore a soft smile.
“You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d swear you were avoiding me.”
All the anxiety and embarrassment left her body in that moment, replaced with indignation. “Well, in case you were unaware, I’ve been recovering from a near-death experience. It’s not something I can just bounce back from,” she huffed, crossing her arms tightly across her chest.
He let out a chuckle. “Ah, there’s the fire that’s been sorely missed.” His smile turned kindly again as his brown eyes took in her appearance. “It has been a while, hasn’t it? Since we really got to talk one on one. I wasn’t even sure it was you when you were brought here that night…” A brief look of pain crossed his face, but it was quickly replaced with his boyish smirk. “Of course, we were different people back then, weren’t we? You were playing mechanic, trying to lure in the Kasey boy…you were going by your middle name then, weren’t you?”
She gave a short nod. “And you were suckering people out of money by being that...what the hell did you call it? A busker?“ She then gave him a curious look, one eyebrow arching quizzically. “I didn’t know Muri was your sister. There’s quite an age difference between the two of you.”
“About ten years.” An unreadable expression crossed his face then, his eyes taking on a distant look as if he were trying to suppress a painful memory. But like before, it was gone in an instant and the disarmingly charming grin was back in place across his mouth. “I have to say, I’m certainly grateful for your appearance here, despite how it happened. Poor Muri’s had very few female influences here at the compound. And of course, with her being on the brink of womanhood, she’s had questions that none of us really have the answers to…” He became uncharacteristically bashful then, bringing a hand up to rub at the back of his neck sheepishly. “She certainly seems to have taken a shine to you.”
“Yeah well, she’s a pain in my ass sometimes but it’s actually fun having her around,” she couldn’t help but smirk.
V leans down like he saw something surprisingly, “Was that a smile?”
“Don’t start.” she shoots back, before laughing a bit, “I know it’s a rare sight, I don’t have a whole lot to be happy about, my father betraying me...Synn leaving me for dead. Me still trying to figure out where the fuck we are!”
“I know it’s a weird situation but I swear to you, this place is safe and at the end of it all there’s not really an end game except that us vagabonds have a home,” he says grabbing a bo staff and stretches it across him. He whispers this next one low enough, and leaving himself exposed shows that he trust her, “I also know you are still upset about what I had to do and trust me if I could have, I would have come back for you.”
She leans close enough before tapping him in his exposed rib cage making him jump a bit, raising her eyebrows, “That’s why I took the shot with the tray when I had the chance.”
“Of course you did,” he batted his brown eyes, before turning around. Angel takes a chance, kicks up a bo staff that was laying on the floor next to her feet and goes to swing but V quickly ducks and blocks the follow through shot with his own staff, and a wicked smile pops on his face, “Let’s get you ready for your return.”
.:.Angel Only In Name.:. .:. Present day.:.
Angel finds herself sitting inside of an empty warehouse atop of a giant spool that usually holds cable or bullrope.
“There wasn’t one single person in PWE that believed for ONE MOMENT that I was going to come out of Disney with a death grip on the Victory Championship. Ellie Quinn learned that if you don’t embrace what you really are you will have that rug pulled right out from under you. YOU HAD YOUR GOD DAMN SHOT ELLIE! And you refused to take it. Now you are left with nothing and I have this!”
From below she slowly pulls up the Victory Championship and brings it close to her face with a wicked little smile growing across her face.
“Now I have little Lachy knocking on my door. But that is another time and another place. We now get to fret over the...*blech* “Nightmare Angel” Chelsea Skye.”
She slings the title over her shoulder and blinks slowly.
“Chelsea, I am only an Angel by name. I am more like the deepest level of hell demon you could possibly muster to imagine. I turned Fantasyland into my own personal hellscape without a second thought and turned it into the real nightmare good ole Walt missed out on. There isn’t much of anything that anyone has been able to do lately to stop me. What makes you think that you have that ability?” her lip curls in disgusted, “I fear nothing, not even death. I have no more dreams because my life has been a hell on earth and the pain only empowers me.”
“So Chelsea, what will you do? Beat me? Be my guest. Make me bleed, let me taste my own A-Negative because everything that you do to me, I bring back on you TEN FOLD! Even the devil himself was an angel before he fell and I am sure he would welcome me with his arms held wide open.”
“Bring your nightmares, Chels....I actually miss being able to dream”
