The world was his for the taking.
At least, that’s how he had always seen it to have been. The throne was his, the world was his, the brand was his, everything that he saw and that he touched was his, he created the legacy that surrounds everything inside of that namesake. When they see the name of the brand, they’ll think of his name. When they see the name of the company, they’ll think of his fuckin’ name. At one point, at least last year, it was a proud achievement that he held above his head—that he had control of an entire company at the palm of his hand—but as of late? Well, there wasn’t anything else to be proud about.
There was no pride in being the face of that company, there was no glory in being the face of that company, and there sure as hell wasn’t any honour in representing that company throughout anything that he fought in. Throughout tournaments, competitions, special events, and just about anything that you could name, he gave them representation. And what does he get in return for it all? The disrespect that they had given him time and time again? The lack of caring for whatever that he had done for that company—even at their darkest times—and showing them a new light and giving them a new breath of fresh air?
No, no.
That was never enough for them.
Nothing, truly, was ever going to be enough for them to finally accept that what they had was the last of a dying breed – true talent that’ll show up no matter what shit they had thrown at him, but then again, maybe this was all warranted. Maybe all of this was supposed to have happened. After all, he had done everything that he could have possibly done with them. He had captured championships upon championships with them, became the first ever to capture the coveted ‘triple crown’ with them — and a first for his own career to capture such a crowning achievement — and provided the company with some of the finest moments of his career. At some point in the future, he should’ve seen it coming that the day to move on from them was soon on it’s way and maybe this was how he’d have to move on, even if he liked it or he didn’t.
The question remained, however, was just how should he move on from a key part of his career? His return to other promotions came out to have been successful, heading to Japan to compete at Omega Wrestling Alliance’s marquee season ending event and capturing the championship that he had created a new founding legacy with before in the past, and now ready to create his own history with his own wrestling promotion as they move onto their first ever pay-per-view. But he was missing something else. He needed something else, he needed something fresh, and he needed to find himself on brand new territory where he doesn’t feel like a known name but more so just another man who’s willing to put up the most damned fight anyone’s ever seen and take the seat of the throne of the company.
That’s how he entered every single company, it wasn’t going to change anytime soon. And when he had been given details of a company making it’s grand return at the beginning of August, he had just known that the time was perfectly made to make that swift transition over from a formerly honourable place to a place that was filled with the one thing that he’s sought after for the past five years that he’s been wrestling for.
And that was excellence.
The meeting with the owner, Ophelia Knight, was nothing short of a success. No clashing of the heads with one another, both were seeking the same thing, and that was making sure that wherever the path would take them? Excellence followed. A promise that he would keep to his chest no matter what she was willing to throw at him. This was what he’s been missing for the past five years, he had everything that he wanted. He had the legacy, he had the fame, he had the namesake, he had the history, but just missing the excellence was a major piece of what he wanted to have before finally ever considering hanging up the boots for the final time.
He was ready for the next chapter through his storied career.
He was born for excellence.
He was made for excellence.
Jason Long was ready, to once again, have the whole world at the palm of his hand.
Long Live The King.
